Connections for the Homeless is pleased to provide this opportunity for funding for Evanston-focused community organizations. We are inviting Black-led and Latino/Hispanic-led organizations, as well as organizations that focus on equity issues (racial, disability, and other), to apply for grants to help in reaching out to and gathering input from the community by making use of their networks. Organizations would participate in a project to gather community input on values and practices related to municipal zoning. As you will see in the above request for Letters of Interest, Connections is working with the City of Evanston to evaluate the City’s zoning code from a perspective of equity and housing affordability. We have already had a zoning consulting firm, ZoneCo LLC, do a diagnostic review of the zoning code from an equity and affordability viewpoint. Now, we are embarking on an exploration of what values the current zoning embodies, who is impacted by the current zoning in negative ways and in positive ways, and what values the different populations in Evanston feel should be embodied in the zoning code. Please review the request for Letters of Interest below and register if you are interested in attending a group discussion about the project to gather more information and ask questions. We are also happy to speak with you individually if you would prefer. Please note that Connections reserves the right to accept or not accept applications based on our assessment. Assessment criteria are included in the attached document. The Letters of Interest request document can be viewed by clicking the button below.
We will be conducting Q&A sessions as follows:
