Joining Forces and Connections for the Homeless are excited to announce that we are a sponsor of this year’s Evanston Juneteenth parade!
And we want YOU to join us!
About Juneteenth
Juneteenth marks the day, June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and proclaimed the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, effectively enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation and ensuring their freedom. The parade is an opportunity for us to come together as a community and celebrate such an important historical event.
You can learn more about the Juneteenth celebrations, including the significance of this historic day, by visiting the Kemone Hendricks website.
