Equitable Zoning Reform Campaign
Goal 3: Embrace Equity in Zoning
Strategy 4:
Diversify the Communications Channels Used to Engage Community Members
Evanston's diverse communities have equally diverse ways of communicating. The City's current means of communication - primarily through email or paper notices - fail to reach the many Evanston residents who would benefit from knowing what is happening in their communities.
The City should expand its means of communications to better meet residents where they are. The City has begun re-imagining how it engages with residents through its work alongside Advocates for Action, a local community group and Equitable Zoning Project Community Partner, with deep ties into Evanston's 5th and 8th wards, and an even deeper understanding of how best to communicate with folks who they talk to every day. Expand these kinds of partnerships, and provide more opportunities for community groups to engage with the City in ways that work for both them and the City.

Recommendation
Provide City information on housing and land use to residents through communications channels they already use and that meet their needs. |
