Require Diverse Representation on Housing-Related Boards, Commissions, and Committees
City committees, commissions, and boards, including some that deal with housing, land use and zoning, do not currently have a make-up that reflects the level of housing need in the community, nor the large numbers of people in the groups at risk who are experiencing that need.
There is precedent for the City to create standards for who is being represented on these important bodies; the Evanston Finance and Budget Committee mandates that at least three members of the committee have “Financial Expertise.”

Require housing-related committees, commissions, and boards to include a minimum number of members with lived experience of homelessness, of housing instability, or as housing service providers. |
