The work of advocacy looks different for everyone—we all have different skills, different schedules, and different interests. We can help you find ways to be an affordable housing advocate that utilize your talents, fit your schedule, and engage you in activities you'd enjoy.
Opportunities for Members
All members will be asked to participate in our onboarding process and become part of the following teams. |
Mobilization Team:
This team is all about action—not meetings! You will learn what you need to be an on-call advocate—ready to take action when the time is right, and you can do it however you'd like! Learn more here |
Zoning Committee:
This committee digs into policy that pushes for zoning reform in Evanston to eliminate restrictions that increase housing costs, perpetuate segregation, and create inequities. Learn more here |
State Policy Committee:
This committee works on creating and supporting legislation that increases affordability throughout the state. Get to know your legislators and use your voice to make change in-district and across Illinois. Learn more here |
YIMBY Committee:
This committee develops community education to fight the biggest barrier to affordable housing—lack of community support. Use your creative skills to help turn NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) into YIMBY (Yes In My Back Yard). Learn more here |

Learn what affordable housing really is, how it benefits communities, and how to remove the barriers that get in the way. |
Take Advocacy 101
Learn what advocacy is, the different ways that you can advocate for affordable housing, and the impact that advocacy can have. |

Defines "mobilization" and explains how movements for more affordable housing can be made. |
