Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance (RLTO) in Evanston

The City of Evanston is considering a new ordinance to protect tenant rights. It includes a “Just Cause” section that will require landlords to have substantial and well-defined reasons for evicting a tenant or refusing to renew the lease. Many landlords are opposing this clause, but we know many people who have lost their housing because such an ordinance is not in place.
