New IHO Committee Still Being Appointed
At its special meeting on affordable housing on October 30, the Evanston City Council decided to form an ad hoc committee that would start the process of overhauling the City's Inclusionary Housing Ordinance. The following aldermen agreed to serve on the committee:
- Judy Fiske
- Ann Rainey
- Eleanor Revelle
- Don Wilson
Mayor Hagerty was to appoint 3 additional members, and on November 6, he suggested the following:
- Lynn Robinson, of Robinson Rental, a prominent property management firm in Evanston
- Jolene Saul, a Vice President at Brinshore Development, a developer of affordable housing
- Kent Swanson, Executive Vice President of Riverside Investment & Development, a real estate firm based in Chicago
The Council members seemed comfortable with these three but asked that two additional members be appointed, including another person with experience in affordable housing.
Joining Forces would like to see this committee formed and taking action as soon as possible.
We have spoken with Mayor Hagerty, who hoped to have 2 nominees to round out membership by the Council meeting on December 4. However, new members were not appointed at that meeting. It is unlikely that the committee will meet before January 1, 2018.
